...for action, that is. It seems we hardly do anything here, but eat, sleep, and visit Erik. He is doing wonderfully, by the way. And today was the first day that he got mad when we left!! We didn't see him at all yesterday, the first day like that, as we were busy all morning doing very little with the facilitator (and going to lunch - going to lunch takes at least 90 minutes here. Service is SLOW.) In the afternoon, Mark wasn't feeling well and I was tired (from doing nothing, I think) so I didn't go, either. This morning, Mark still wasnt' feeling well, so I went alone and the little bugger was happy to see me! The caregiver said he was looking for Mama, and whether that's true or not, I don't know, but it was sweet of her to say, and it seemed to be true. We had a nice visit and are bonding nicely. This afternoon, Mark went with me, and we had a nice, long visit. We saw Leeza again, and little Alina and the girl from yesterday playing outside, but their caregivers were not very nice and we didn't visit with the girls for long. They also would not allow me to take any pictures, which didn't surprise me.

I love this picture below. Mark was playing with Erik with his hat and Erik was having such a fun time! When he gets excited, he gestures wildly and I caught this adorable picture:

I also put in 3 similar pictures here to show how much he likes to look at books!! For a kid who's never seen a book before, he sure shows good interest. And he TALKS the whole time he's looking!! "Lalalalalala babababa", etc. He is so animated! The top picture shows how he likes to hold your finger when he does something like turn the pages in a book, or push a button on a toy, or whatever. It's like he wants moral support, so he holds your finger while he's doing the job. It's the sweetest thing!

I have to say that he is so FAR from a terror. He is a BLESSING... We love him so much... The only reason I have his hat on backwards is cuz he hates the bill out front. It kindof scares him? I'm not sure - but - when we put it on - it goes backwards. That is SO NOT me. I'm too stuffy and conservative for that... But - he is the joy of our hearts... Terror - no - Blessing - yes...

Erik is so cute looking at the book. He will be reading one day for sure!! Jimmy always loved books and now he reads everything everywhere we go. One time he read a sign for a neighbor's garage sale and he looked at me and said "They are having a garbage sale!". I started cracking up and told him it was a garage sale, and he started laughing too!

I know about the loosen up thingie.. hehe... He already has started on me. But - I'll always tuck my shirts in. hahahaha... The backwards baseball cap thing is new for me. It's hard to do that to him - and hopefully that's a start. But - I refuse to ever say the word D U D E... hahaha... Going to the market today - then off to see erik. :)

Missy, I have been moving all week and have not had a second on the computer. I have been dying to get to your blog and see how the three of you are doing. I can see from the adorable pictures you have been doing very well :)
It brought tears to my eyes when you decided not to take the little girl. I know that must have been difficult but I completely understand what you are saying. People often ask us why we adopt older children why not younger and our answer is similar because older teens have less of a chance. I know the younger perceived more adoptable children are easier to place Mark and I wanted to give a chance to those that may never have one. Dear Missy you are very special and I can see your heart. Thank you for sharing the other children with us as well. Rhonda

Amy, I love the story about the "garbage sale"!! It's extra funny because that's what some of them are!! LOL I can't wait until Erik is talking and exploring his world. I wish I could see how he does on the train and plane rides with Mark! He LOVES to see everything and he'll really have a lot to see on the long trip home!

Hey Missy! I got your message on my blog and I would LOVE to meet up when you are here! I'm staying in an apartment not far from the SDA, so if you can, email me when you get here, maybe we can meet up with Jamie and her family (hosford) and have dinner or something!

Hey, Julie! I won't have e-mail access, but you can try and find me either by e-mailing my husband here in Kramatorsk at mrmarkmark@aol.com or by e-mailing me your phone number and I will use my facilitator's assistant's phone to call you. My e-mail is mjvoigts@netzero.com . I'll have e-mail access until Monday afternoon. I'll be in Kiev Tuesday all day. I have to go to the consulate in the morning to sign Power of Attorney papers for Mark, then I am free! I want to souvenier shop, then crash at my hotel for my early flight Wed. morning, but I'd love to meet up with you! How are things going???

Julie - if you get in touch with me - I can give you info on Missy. She doesn't have access to a phone or laptop, but - I can tell you which hotel she will be staying in. It's the one right next to the airport. I'm not sure how much sleep she will get on the train tonight, but I hope some sleep. Missy listed my email in her comment on this page... I'll check email again in the morning early...
